Evangelization

Youth Ministry at St. Edward supports the efforts of parents, caring adults, and all ministers of the church to encourage young people to develop healthy, faith-filled relationships with Jesus Christ, with their families, and with the community. These endeavors have as their end the following three goals: (1) to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today, (2) to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community, and (3) to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person. (Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry, National Conference of Catholic Bishops, pp. 9 – 18.) With these goals in mind, St. Edward Youth Ministry focuses the parish’s efforts to minister to the youth (grades 6 – 12) of the St. Edward community with programs structured around the eight components of youth ministry: advocacy, catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice & service, leadership development, pastoral care, and prayer & worship.

Justice and Peace

The Human Concerns Ministry seeks to lead St. Edward's parishioners in the fulfillment of the Gospel call to love of neighbor and the Church's call to action on behalf of justice. The Human Concerns Ministry seeks opportunities to respond to the needs of the deprived, disabled, neglected, incarcerated and oppressed in the parish, in our community and in the world at large. Of equal importance, we promote legislative advocacy for a consistent ethic of life including the rights of the unborn; we also promote advocacy seeking economic and political justice for the oppressed and empowerment of the marginalized in our society.

Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care demonstrates a dedication to human dignity, and appreciation of individual differences and the incarnation of love, hope and mercy. Volunteers in this ministry are compassionate individuals and good listeners who bring Christ's loving care to those in need.
Groups of volunteers serve in bringing Communion to the homebound, serving those in assisted living facilities and sometimes simply providing a ride to the doctor or to Church.

Parish & Family Life

Parish Life seeks to build fellowship among our parishioners and the larger community. Opportunities to do this often involve food and socials. What better way to reach out than by gathering around a table as Jesus did with his friends to discuss his mission? We can best build God's kingdom by first coming together as a community in joy and concern for each other.

Please consider becoming a part of volunteer opportunities as they occur. In the fall, we have St. Edward Weekend events, breakfasts and dinners throughout the year, and numerous receptions around the sacrament celebrations. Of course, hospitality is provide if needed at the time of a funeral.

Music Ministry

We are the voice of Christ alive in the world; with all that God has done for us, how can we keep from singing? St. Edward Music Ministry is dedicated to bringing individuals to communion with Christ through the communal musical experience. With four choirs and a variety of instrumental groups, we offer a wide variety of musical experiences for parishioners of all ages.
